The short version
- You do not need an account to use Fieldnote.
- We do not show ads, track you across other apps or websites, or sell your information.
- What you create in Fieldnote is stored on your device unless this policy says otherwise.
What we collect
Fieldnote uses the following information, only for the reasons listed.
- Voice recordings and transcripts you create
- To provide the app. They are processed and stored only on your device and in your own device backups.
- Purchase and subscription status
- To unlock paid features. This is handled by Apple or Google; we receive no payment details.
- Anonymous crash reports
- To fix bugs, shared through the platform only if you allow it.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your personal information.
- Use your information for advertising, or show ads in Fieldnote.
- Track you across apps and websites owned by other companies.
- Read, listen to or look at the content you create, unless you send it to us for support.
Services we rely on
Fieldnote uses these services to work. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Apple (App Store)
- Handling purchases on iPhone. Read their privacy policy.
- Google (Google Play)
- Handling purchases on Android. Read their privacy policy.
Storage and deletion
Information stored on your device stays there until you delete it in the app or remove the app. If you use your device's backup or sync (such as iCloud or Google backup), copies are kept in your own account under that provider's terms.
If you email us, we keep your message and our reply for up to two years so we can help with follow-up questions, then delete them. You can ask us to delete them sooner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, including under the GDPR in the European Union and United Kingdom and the CCPA in California, you can ask to see, correct, export or delete personal information we hold about you, and object to how we use it. Since most information stays on your device, you can usually do this yourself in the app. For anything else, email privacy@qappslab.com. We will respond within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Fieldnote is suitable for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Fieldnote uses information, we will update this page and the date at the top. For significant changes we will also tell you in the app before they take effect.
